flights

When searching for the good connection, please search for Cagliari airport, unless you plan to go around the whole island and stop at our kitebase just for few days on your way. Taking the ferry will require considerably more time – roughly a day and a half without major stops. If you have a longer holiday and want to turn it into a road trip and explore places along the way, why not. That said, such a long journey only really pays off for stays of more than two weeks.
ferries
Livorno – Olbia
-
Operated by Grimaldi Lines, Moby Lines, or Corsica Ferries; Grimaldi is usually the cheapest.
-
Count the drive to Livorno and take into account the costs of tolls and tunnels on the way
-
You need to arrive at the ferry port about two hours before departure, and the crossing itself takes 8 hours. If you're travelling overnight, it's definitely worth paying for a cabin so you arrive rested.
-
You also need to take into account for the drive from Olbia to soutwest, which goes almost all the way across the island. The fastest route takes roughly 4 hours and covers about 300 km, mostly through the interior on main roads.

Buying ferry tickets
The best tool for finding the right connection is undoubtedly the AFerry website or app – prices there are usually the same as on the ferry companies' own sites, and you can sort everything out easily in one place. Some companies occasionally offer great deals, so it may be worth browsing their own website and booking directly.
